Wajiha Shah

Digital Ambassador

Wajiha Shah

Asalaam-u-alaikum! My name is Wajiha and I’m so happy that you have chosen to visit my page. Until December 2024, I will be joining VSO as an official Digital Ambassador to promote the work happening right here in Pakistan.

I can’t wait for you to join me on this journey where I talk about active citizenship, and what role we can all play in creating lasting change for everyone.

Check back on my profile over the next six months to see all the activities I am involved in!

About me

I grew up in my hometown Gilgit-Baltistan, located in Northern Pakistan. The region itself is incredibly picturesque, with mountainous views and beautiful valleys.

However, I moved to the city in 2019 to pursue my education and I am now based in Lahore, which is the second the largest city in Pakistan – so as you can imagine, quite the difference!

I recently graduated from high school and completed my degree in Fine Arts which links to some of the work I am doing now.

At VSO Pakistan, I’m supporting a lot with marketing and communications, and thinking about how we can leverage different digital channels to promote the importance of education among the communities we are working in.

Access to quality education is something that is very important to me and is something I want to continue highlighting as part of the VSO Digital Ambassador Programme.

For me, it’s important that I can be a role model for younger girls in my community, and challenge social norms. Everyone deserves a seat in the classroom, no matter their background or gender!

The ACTIVE programme

The UK government funded ACTIVE programme supports the development of active citizenship across the Global South, so the world’s most marginalised people can lead their own development, claim their rights to better public services, and hold people in power to account.
