Frequently Asked Questions

Thank you so much for supporting VSO and being part of the change we all want to see. Every penny donated makes a difference. And by donating, you’ll receive a pin badge to show the world that you stand with girls.

This page provides help with the most common questions about the VSO pin badges.

When will I receive my pin badge?

We aim to dispatch your badge within 2 weeks of receiving your generous donation. Please allow a further 3-4 days for the badge to arrive in the mail once they’re on their way.

I made a regular gift, will I receive a pin badge?

We are very grateful for each and every gift we receive. Unfortunately, we have very limited stock available and can only provide a pin badge as part of our small campaign. If you'd like to receive a pin badge, you can, you can make a donation online

Why are you offering a pin badge? Isn’t this a waste of money you could put towards your work?

Our goal is to raise awareness of VSO and connect with donors who believe in our our approach to creating lasting change. By offering a badge we hope to inspire supporters to take pride in being an important part of our changemakers community. The cost per badge is minimal making it a worthwhile item that can be worn repeatedly.

What is the meaning behind the badge design?

The pin badge reflects the heart of what VSO does: health, education and livelihoods.  The badge was created with the three areas of work VSO does in mind – health, education and livelihoods That is why the hands are a big part of the pin badge design – they symbolise the spirit of giving back and making a difference.

How long is this offer valid for?

The offer will be valid as long as stocks last.

How is my donation spent?

Of every £1 donated to VSO, 87p goes directly to our projects around the world, with the remaining 13p being spent on governance, admin, and raising the next £1.

We aim to be as transparent as possible, so we publish our annual report every year which includes income and costs. You can also see just how far your donation goes and what we achieved with the lovely support of people like you.

Can I send you items to give to people?

Unfortunately, we are unable to send gifts and materials overseas due to the high postage costs associated. A donation would allow us to locally source urgently needed materials at a lower cost, meaning your money would go further and help support the local economy in the countries VSO work in.

I made a donation, but I haven't received my pin badge.

I'm sorry to hear that, we're trying our best to get the pin badges out as soon as possible. You should expect to receive it within 2 weeks of making your donation. Please reach out to the Supporter Care Team on 020 8780 7500 or fill out our contact form should this not arrive in time.

Where will my money go? Is it going to Nepal/specific projects?

No, donations will be distributed across all of VSO's work, where they are needed most, whether that is in education, livelihoods or health.

Why is my donation not going to a specific project?

We want to make sure there are funds for the other people who need our support across the world. This means your support will be used where it is needed most.

What are the badges made of?

The badges are made of a long-lasting material that can withstand everyday wear and tear and is cost-effective.

Is there a minimum donation to get the badge?

We appreciate any donations, but would kindly suggest a minimum of £5 for a pin badge.
